HOW TO WATCH THE SHOWDOWN IN SPAIN

Valencia’s Circuit Ricardo Tormo is a familiar location for Formula E as host of four of the series’ past pre-season tests. But this weekend it makes its debut on the racing calendar and the first ever Formula E event on Spanish soil. As always, we want to ensure you get the most out of all the racing action as the teams and drivers battle it out for their share of the silverware.

Tune in…
Once again there’s plenty of ways to watch with extended live coverage across the globe. In Germany, both races will be live on SAT.1, whilst in France, La Chaîne L’Équipe will be coming live from the paddock with pre and post-race coverage. In Italy, Saturday’s race will be live on Italia 1 and Sunday’s race will be live on Channel 20, with all sessions also live on Sky Italia.

Fans in the UK can follow all the weekend’s action on the BBC’s digital platforms and across Europe, all sessions from Saturday and Sunday will be live on Eurosport. In Austria, rounds 5 and 6 will be live on ORF1.

In the US, viewers can check out the live race action on CBS Sports Network, while in Canada TVA and TSN will provide coverage all weekend long.

Disney+ Hotstar will show all qualifying and race sessions live for audiences across India and the sub-continent, and across Asia, DAZN will be showing all sessions live, with Indonesian fans enjoying via the TVRI Nasional network.

Circuit…
With the event also being Formula E’s first visit to a permanent track (Mexico and Marrakesh are classed as semi-permanent by the way), then energy management is going to prove crucial so be sure to keep an eye on this. The wide, smooth circuit is unlike any of the street tracks Formula E is used to meaning overtaking should be easier. But at 3.376km long, and only two braking points (meaning fewer regen opportunities), it will likely mean a lot of lifting and costing for the drivers and a real challenge to save on energy until the chequered flag.

Weather…
So far, the forecast looks clear for the weekend, but it is worth noting that rain can sweep into Valencia quickly and would certainly make for an interest race. Previous test sessions have often seen heavy downpours and although it is a few months later, it can never be discounted.

New face…
Nope, not a driver but a new face in the Formula E commentary team as former Mahindra driver Karun Chandhok will step in for Dario Franchitti this weekend who is unable to attend. Karun is a big fan of the Envision Racing squad having taken part in its ‘Car vs Bike Vs Drone’ race last year…and won!

Milestones…
With two races and plenty of points up for grabs, hopefully this weekend will see the team scoop their 1,000th Formula E point being just 24 shy of the illustrious total. And, of course, you can help them get there by voting on FanBoost here
