How to watch the Formula E gladiators battle it out in Rome

The next rounds of the Formula E season are almost open us as the series returns to the battle arena with the Rome E-Prix. Rounds three and four take place this Saturday and Sunday (10/11 April) as Formula E begins its European leg after a fantastic season opener in Diriyah. So, here’s how you can watch all the action and, more importantly, what to watch out for…

Tune-in
Fans can tune in all over the world in a variety of ways both through traditional broadcasters, as well as via social media and digital platforms. UK fans can watch the races live and free-to-air via the BBC’s online platforms, which includes the BBC Red Button, BBC Sport Online and the BBC iPlayer. And, for Saturday only, the race will be live on the flagship BBC Two channel. The race gets underway at 15:00 GMT+1 (16:00 local time) and for a complete list of broadcasters and timings for where you live then visit https://www.fiaformulae.com/en/watch/ways-to-watch

Watch out for the bumps…
Simulations show drivers are in for a bumpy ride around this 3.380km circuit, the second longest in Formula E’s history (just 0.1km less than the Beijing track by the way). As such, judging the ride height and car set up will be crucial, but also it will make reading the steering wheel display – and those all-important energy readings – even tougher for the drivers.

Qualifying battle…
With Rome being a tight, twisty street track, qualifying is even more crucial with overtaking going to prove tricky. Once again, expect the latter qualifying groups to have the better of the conditions – Nick is in group four, with Robin in group one.

New powertrains…
With the exception of Nissan, all teams will now have their new powertrains in place for this event, most notably the DS Techeetah cars. Be sure to keep a close eye to see what, if any, improvements have been made.

Milestones…
And finally, this weekend could see an important milestone for the team by reaching its 1000th Formula E points. Envision Racing is just 39 points off the magic tally and would be only the third team to achieve such a feat.

Of course, don’t forget you can also get involved rather than simply just watch by voting for the Envision Racing drivers on FanBoost here https://fanboost.fiaformulae.com/ Voting is now open so make sure you get yours in!
