VIRGIN RACING ANNOUNCES FABIO LEIMER TO JOIN SAM BIRD AT LONDON EPRIX

Fabio began his racing career in karting before progressing to Formula BMW and Formula Renault 2.0. Success came quickly in the International Formula Masters, in which he competed for Swiss team Jenzer Motorsport, finishing as championship runner-up in his debut season. The following year he won the championship title with his sixth win in the seventh race, which led to a move to GP2 and Ocean Racing Technology in 2010. In 2013 Fabio won the GP2 title with Racing Engineering.

In 2014, Fabio raced in the World Endurance Championship in the top prototype privateer category for the Swiss team REBELLION Racing.. Fabio was recently named as a reserve and development driver for the Manor Marussia F1 team in FIA Formula One this season.

Speaking about joining the team, Fabio Leimer said: “As a racing driver, I love a challenge and so joining Virgin Racing for the London ePrix will be a great test. It’s going to be an incredible and unique experience racing on the London street circuit and an even more special occasion racing for a new team in their home race. I’m looking forward to racing alongside Sam and hopefully contributing to a successful season finale for the team.”
