Zak O’Sullivan to drive for Envision Racing in Berlin Rookie Test
British driver Zak O’Sullivan will return to the wheel of the Envision Racing GEN3 Evo car for the official in-season rookie test on July 14 in Berlin.
The session will mark the 20-year-old’s second outing in Formula E machinery, following his debut during the rookie FP0 session at the Jeddah E-Prix earlier this year. The Berlin test will take place at the Tempelhof Airport circuit, immediately after the championship’s double-header race weekend on July 12–13.
O’Sullivan has played an important role for Envision Racing throughout Season 11, supporting the team with simulator work and contributing valuable data between race weekends to aid drivers Sébastien Buemi and Robin Frijns.
Managing Director & CTO Sylvain Filippi said: “The all-day rookie test offers Zak a valuable opportunity to gain more experience behind the wheel of the GEN3 Evo car.
“He’s been a strong asset to the team this season, and we’re excited to see him back in our car for the Berlin test.”

“I drove the car in Jeddah and really enjoyed it, so it will be nice having a full day in the car in Berlin to learn more about this car and racing series.”
O’Sullivan is currently racing in the Japanese Super Formula Championship, which he moved to after stepping back from Formula 2 due to funding issues, despite taking two wins in the category.
There are just four races remaining of the Formula E Season 11 calendar, the double-header in Berlin followed by the series finale in London.

The final single header of the Season 11 calendar is set to bring the heat, humidity and action as the championship narrows down to the closing stages. Despite the Envision Racing drivers of Sebastien Buemi and Robin Frijns not battling it out at the front of the standings – the pair have demonstrated strong pace and delivered points in a challenging car over the past few months.
The Jakarta E-Prix witnesses a return to the purpose-built circuit around the Ancol Beach Resort after a year hiatus. Season 11 reverts back to a single-header, meaning the stakes are even higher with just one qualifying session and race to nail for the team and drivers to bring home the points.
THE CIRCUIT
The 18-turn circuit kicks off with a long run into a tight opening sector, then to a flowing series of turns and banked corners, leading to a tight complex to round out the lap, with a long run down the fast start/finish straight.
This weekend is set to be the toughest conditions for the drivers to compete in all season – with high temperatures and humidity which will push them to their physical and mental capacity during the 38-lap E-Prix.

Envision Racing return to China, and the home of Envision in Shanghai for Round 10 & 11 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
Straight off the back of the double header in Tokyo, the all-electric series continues the Asian stint of the championship, returning to the Shanghai International Circuit after its’ debut for Formula E last season.
Points were delivered in both races last year in what is considered a second home race for the Envision Racing squad, and full focus is on achieving that again. The Silverstone-based, Chinese owned outfit have been enjoying strong form lately – starting off with what was a podium on track in Homestead before a penalty for Robin Frijns, which was followed by a sensational win in Monaco by Sebastien Buemi and more points delivered last time out by both drivers in Tokyo.
As the season powers into the second half, Envision Racing heads to Shanghai with a maintained focus and determination to deliver points.
THE CIRCUIT
There are few city silhouettes that can outdo Shanghai’s, particularly from the city’s world-famous Bund. The mile-long promenade on the Zhongshan Road lines the bank of the Huangpu River, cutting through central Shanghai, and offers nighttime views of Lujianzui, one of the most electric cityscapes in the world. What better place to showcase all electric-racing!
The Circuit opened in 2004 for the Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix and has since played host to all-electric racing some 20 years later. Designed for top-tier motorsport global events, the circuit features a challenging combination of high-speed straights and tight corners. This track offers plenty of opportunities for overtaking – making it the perfect place to showcase Formula E’s unique brand of racing.

Envision Racing head to Tokyo for inaugural doubler-header in the Japanese capital
The all-electric series returns to Tokyo’s Big Sight centre, this time for double the action with racing across both days on May 17 & 18.
The Tokyo E-Prix returns for its second edition, promising even more excitement as Formula E debuts the Gen3 Evo car at the iconic Japanese venue. With improved performance and handling, the new car will challenge teams and drivers to quickly adapt to the fast, technical street circuit. Adding another layer of strategy, this race will also feature Pit Boost—a mid-race pit stop that increases energy—bringing a fresh tactical element to the competition.
Last time out in Monaco was incredibly successful for the Silverstone based outfit, with Sebastien Buemi taking the win in Round 7 on the wet streets of Monte Carlo. The Swiss driver was over four seconds ahead of his nearest rival, Oliver Rowland, and propelled himself into the top ten of the driver standings.
Robin Frijns missed out on a strong finish due to Attack Mode timings but scored points on the first of the two race days in The Principality. The team now sets its sights on maintaining this momentum as they head to Tokyo, aiming to build on the recent success and continue climbing the championship standings.
THE CIRCUIT
The challenging 18-turn, 2.582km street circuit will surround the Tokyo International Exhibition Centre – the largest venue in Japan also known as Tokyo Big Sight. It’s a challenging layout that includes three notable straights, technical sequences of tight corners, and high-speed combinations set against the stunning Tokyo metropolis backdrop.

Envision Racing return to Monaco for the inaugural double-header in The Principality
The Monaco E-Prix is always one of the crown jewels of the Formula E calendar — steeped in history, packed with drama, and about to get even bigger. For the first time ever, the Circuit de Monaco will host a double-header weekend, with two races across May 3rd and 4th — and Saturday’s race will throw an extra twist into the mix: Pit Boost.
Pit Boost, new for Season 11, will add a fresh layer of strategy. After making its debut in Jeddah, this will be just the second time teams tackle the mid-race challenge. Every driver must stop in the pit lane to receive a 30-second, 600kW boost, giving them a 10% energy increase (3.85kWh). But there’s a catch: each team has just one Pit Boost rig, meaning no double-stacking.
At Homestead-Miami Speedway, Envision Racing bounced back in style. Robin Frijns and Sébastien Buemi looked sharp throughout qualifying, lighting up the timing screens and securing P4 and P12 on the grid respectively.
The race itself delivered fireworks. Both drivers spent most of the 26-lap contest in the top five, but a late safety car and red flag threw a spanner into their Attack Mode plans. Frijns crossed the line in P3 but was hit with a 10-second penalty, dropping him to P8. Buemi battled hard to finish P13.
THE CIRCUIT
The Circuit de Monaco runs along the streets of Monte Carlo and follows the harbour of the Principality of Monaco. La Rascasse, Casino Square and Grand Hotel Hairpin – there are few corners that evoke motorsport legend than the winding streets that line the Monaco circuit.
The full 3.3km circuit with its steep hill and high-speed sections will again put the field’s energy management skills to the test.
With Season 11 featuring more strategical elements than ever before; all-wheel drive in Attack Mode and Pit Boost, the double-header weekend is set to be an electrifying weekend of Formula E racing.

At Envision Racing, we see motorsport as a platform for sustainable innovation. In partnership with our partner, Teijin, we hosted a Race Against Climate Change® event at Brightlands Chemelot Campus, focusing on circularity, material traceability, and sustainability.
Rethinking circularity in materials and manufacturing
The event brought together industry leaders to discuss transitioning from a linear to a circular economy. Ton de Weijer, General Manager of Environmental Solutions at Teijin, emphasised the need to rethink material lifecycles.
De Weijer outlined three key steps:
Traceability – Understanding materials through transparent supply chains
Smart design – Creating materials with reusability in mind
Recycling innovation – Restoring materials to their original properties
Formula E: Using sustainable motorsport as a testbed for circularity principles
Motorsport has traditionally been wasteful, but Formula E is proving otherwise. As Sylvain Filippi, Envision Racing’s Managing Director and CTO, explained, sustainability is now a priority.
Compared to F1’s 20 tyre sets per car per race and large teams, Formula E operates with just two sets per car per weekend and a significantly smaller crew. The impact is clear: more efficiency, less waste.
In just over a decade, Formula E has evolved from needing two cars per driver to single-car efficiency, 350kW power output, and 0-60 mph acceleration in 1.8 seconds—30% faster than F1. Looking ahead, Gen 4 cars in 2026 will push boundaries with 600kW power and advanced energy regeneration.
This is having a direct impact on the EV market, showcasing how the sport can be used to drive real innovation.
Traceability: unlocking circularity in supply chains
Circularity isn’t just about recycling—it’s about maximising material value. Mesbah Sabur, Founder of Circularise, and Smitha Sundaram, Corporate Sustainability Manager at Teijin, discussed how traceability enhances circular economies.
Many manufacturers lack transparency in their materials, making recycling a challenge. By improving traceability, businesses can reduce waste and reuse valuable materials efficiently.
Also, through legislative practices, circularity principles can be standardised and market leaders can be rewarded for innovative sustainable practices.

Envision Racing announces 10% reduction in emissions intensity as part of latest Impact Report
Envision Racing has published its annual Impact Report detailing its Scope 1, 2 and 3 (category 6: business travel) emissions using the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
The findings reveal an overall reduction in emissions intensity of 18% year-on-year, and a 10% reduction from its baseline year (2018/2019).
The Formula E team, whose stated purpose is to bring awareness to climate issues and drive action to reduce harmful emissions, has accomplished these impressive results through a series of incremental initiatives: including a switch in office location to reduce direct gas consumption, reducing the distance between hotels and race locations for the team, and implementing a green tariff to reduce electricity emissions at its HQ in Silverstone.
Where emission reduction has not been possible, Envision Racing has invested in carbon credits, which have contributed to global challenges like clean development initiatives on public transport in India, afforestation projects in China, biodiversity projects in Indonesia and recycling programmes in Romania.
Sylvain Filippi, Managing Director and CTO of the team, said: “In 2014, we created a team with a clear mission: to accelerate the transition to clean, secure and affordable renewable energy, and the mass adoption of e-mobility.
“This report is a chance for us to share what we have achieved over the last 10 years, reflect on our progress, and set our ambitions for the next decade.”
In addition to the team’s own carbon footprint, Envision Racing uses its platform as a championship-winning Formula E team to educate, advocate and inspire action on climate change more broadly through its Race Against Climate Change programme.
Envision Racing has hosted 16 Race Against Climate Change events over the years, with 48 speakers – including business leaders, policymakers, government officials and leading scientists – coming together to discuss strategies and methods for climate reduction.
Through the team’s pledge programme, where Envision Racing plants a mangrove tree for every pledge made by fans to reduce their emissions, 250,145 fan pledges have been made, resulting in 250,145 trees planted.
This has removed approximately 3.27 million kilograms of CO2 from the environment.
The team also showcased its ‘Recover E’ car – a replica Formula E car made entirely out of electronic waste – at COP28 and the World Economic Forum, promoting initiatives to reduce electronic waste. Envision Racing remains the only sports team to have exhibited at both events.

Envision Racing are set to take on the first double-header of the season under the lights in Saudi Arabia.
A new circuit for Formula E, a rookie test, two-night races, and the debut for the highly anticipated technological advancement for the championship … Rounds 3 & 4 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship are set to be thrilling.
The all-electric series heads to the Jeddah Corniche Circuit for the first time, after previously visiting the Kingdom’s historic capital, Diriyah, for the past six seasons.
The circuit has been altered from the Formula 1 layout to adapt to the GEN3 Evo machines more effectively and continue to put on a spectacle for fans in the grandstands and at home.
The weekend will kick off with a Rookie FP0 session, in which newest team member, Zak O’Sullivan will step into the Green Machine for the first time on track. The 40-minute session will be crucial for not only O’Sullivan to learn as much as he can, but also for the team to begin gathering data for the race week ahead.
Official drivers Sebastien Buemi and Robin Frijns have more than just a new circuit to tackle in Jeddah – they will also be working tirelessly with the team to navigate the latest strategical element, Pit Boost.
The 34-second pit stop – which has to be taken at some point during the race – will enable the cars to receive an extra 10% of energy increase (3.85kWh).
Pit Boost is scheduled to take place during one race across double-header race weeks for the remainder of Season 11, and it will be implemented during the first race (Round 3) in Jeddah.
THE CIRCUIT
The 19 turn 3.001km circuit boasts long and flowing straights divided by fast and technical chicanes.
The 22-car field will blast down the start/finish straight into a tight left-hander followed by a hairpin, which is certain to provide plenty of action when the lights go green.
Strategy is going to be more vital than ever, with the introduction of Pit Boost during Race 1 of the weekend. The extra energy taken at the perfect time could be the difference in winning – while we have already seen the importance of picking the right moment to activate Attack Mode in doing well in races this season.
With temperatures set to be high, and the being the first and only night races on the calendar this year, the inaugural Jeddah E-Prix contains all of the ingredients to produce Formula E excitement.

Buemi was unable to make the start in Race 2 in Diriyah last season, due to an unfortunate incident late in qualifying. However, team-mate Frijns was able to bring home the big points for the Envision Racing squad, and his P2 finish on Saturday became the 50th podium for the team – adding most podiums in Formula E history to the record books.

Frijns survives late-race scare to claim top 10 finish in Tokyo
Envision Racing’s Robin Frijns emerged from the first ever Tokyo E-Prix with a hard-won eighth place and important points for himself and the team
After 35 laps of a dramatic, historic E-Prix in Japan, not even the loss of a front wing could hinder Frijns’ quest for points.
The Envision Racing driver executed a calm but rapid race, surviving damage late in the race to end up eighth, with four points in the bag after a tough day on brand new circuit.
In truth it could have been even better for the Dutchman, if he had not been hit by Norman Nato in the closing stages – a collision that earned the Andretti driver a five-second penalty.
Despite setting the pace in practice, Envision Racing suffered another difficult qualifying session which did not reflect the speed of the car and drivers. Robin Frijns narrowly missed out on making the duels ending up 10th on the grid, whilst Sébastien Buemi was forced to settle for 21st after damage prevented him making the most of his final qualifying run.
When the lights went out to start the first ever E-Prix in Japan it was polesitter Oliver Rowland who maintained the lead, and as the pack filtered through the opening sequence of corners, Frijns had moved up two places to eighth.
After a lively opening couple of laps, Frijns managed to settle into eighth, just behind António Félix da Costa, as team-mate Buemi remained boxed in down in 21st place.
In the closing metres of lap four, Frijns made a superb double overtake, surging from eighth to sixth, slotting in behind the Porsche of Pascal Wehrlein.
By lap 10 of the scheduled 33, Frijns found himself in a decent seventh place, behind da Costa, as up front, Rowland maintained his lead from Edoardo Mortara and Maximilian Günther. Three laps later, a temporary drop to eighth was soon resolved as Frijns passed Sérgio Sette Câmara to once again set his sights on sixth place man da Costa.
As the battle for the lead between Rowland and Günther, Frijns elected to take his opening Attack Mode phase on lap 18, dropping down to eighth place. Further back, Buemi had made decent progress, moving from 21st to 16th, aided by a crash for Jaguar’s Mitch Evans.
On lap 20 the debris resulting from Evans’ incident necessitated the first safety car period of the day, bunching up the pack, with Frijns sitting seventh, and Buemi running 16th.
Racing action resumed on lap 22, with Rowland at the front, chased by Günther and Mortara with Frijns in seventh chasing the two Andretti machines. Two laps later Frijns went for Attack Mode, losing a place to Wehrlein’s slightly wounded Porsche.
Two additional laps were added to the race distance, extending the contest to 35 laps as Günther headed the pack in the Maserati from Rowland and da Costa. Frijns continued to hold eighth place for Envision Racing, applying the pressure on Norman Nato before a heavy collision for the Dutch driver resulted in the loss of his front wing.
Frijns emerged from the contact with Nato down in 10th, minus a serious chunk of downforce.
Entering the final, added two laps, Frijns was forced to apply all his skill and experience to resist a challenge from Sette Câmara. At the chequered flag, Frijns managed to hold on to finish 10th on the road, which became ninth as Nato was penalised for causing the earlier collision.
Up front, Günther claimed the win ahead of Rowland and Jake Dennis, with Buemi ending up 12th.
After the race there was further good news for Frijns. Mahindra Racing’s Mortara was found to have used excess energy, resulting in his disqualification, promoting Frijns to eighth (and Buemi to 12th), and adding an extra two points to the Teams’ and Drivers’ Championship tally.
