Envision Racing Set for Season Finale at London’s ExCeL Circuit

Envision Racing heads to the iconic ExCeL London this weekend for the Season 11 finale of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. The all-electric series wraps up its sixteenth and final round with a double-header in the British capital, promising high drama and fierce competition as the curtain falls on another electrifying season.

For Envision Racing, the London E-Prix offers an opportunity for redemption after a disappointing second race in Berlin, where both cars were forced to retire due to an unusual incident involving debris activating the fire extinguisher systems. Despite setbacks, the team remains determined to finish the season on a high note.

Season 11 has had its challenges, but also standout moments for the team. Sébastien Buemi delivered a masterclass with a memorable victory in Monaco and a podium in Jakarta, while Robin Frijns found consistent form in the latter half of the campaign and delivered strong qualifying performances. Frijns also crossed the line on the podium in Miami, only to have it stripped away by a post-race penalty.

London has been a happy hunting ground for Envision in recent years, with Buemi securing podium finishes in each of the last two visits, with the first of those contributing to the team world championship title back in Season 9. With the team’s proven pace at the ExCeL circuit, all eyes will be on a strong finish and a valuable points haul to close out Season 11.

THE CIRCUIT 

The London E-Prix circuit is one of the most technical on the calendar, and the 20-turn, 2.09km long circuit also stands out as the first FIA-sanctioned indoor-outdoor circuit in top-level motorsport. The pioneering design provides a unique test for drivers and teams alike. With changes in surface, elevation and the change in lighting, the 22 drivers are in for another challenging affair in London.

Sebastien Buemi: P3 & P4

Robin Frijns: DNF & P7

The team delivered a strong haul of points during Season 10’s London E-Prix, with Buemi stepping on the podium during race one, and then charging through from P17 to P4 in the final race of the season.

Frijns suffered an incident during the first race which led to a trip to hospital but thankfully was cleared to race the next day and brought home solid points in P7.

Sebastien Buemi: “We head to London with motivation to end the season on a high. It’s a circuit I have enjoyed strong results at over the last couple of seasons, and will be aiming to replicate that again. Although the season has been up and down, there have been some great moments, particularly achieving the win in Monaco.”

Robin Frijns: “As a team, we have been working very hard all season to improve and deliver results. We have had some strong moments, but have been very unlucky throughout the season too. We will be aiming to bring home some good results to end the season in a positive way.”

Envision Racing aim to capitalise on momentum in the German capital

Envision Racing return to Berlin for the penultimate double-header of Season 11, with Rounds 13 and 14 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship taking place at the iconic Tempelhof Airport circuit.

The team arrives in Germany with a renewed boost following a successful FIA hearing after the Jakarta E-Prix. Sebastien Buemi’s third-place finish, initially stripped due to a five-second penalty, was reinstated after new evidence led to the penalty being overturned. The reclaimed podium not only rewards Buemi’s performance but also tightens the team standings in the mid-pack, with just over 20 points separating five contenders heading into the final two race weekends.

Berlin holds a special place in Formula E history, having hosted a race in every season since the series’ inception in 2014. The circuit—laid out across the concrete slabs of the historic Tempelhof Airport—is known for its abrasive surface and ever-changing grip levels, creating unique challenges for teams and drivers alike.

THE CIRCUIT 

Spanning 2.3km with 15 turns, the Tempelhof layout has consistently delivered some of Formula E’s most memorable races. Known for its fast, flowing layout and multiple overtaking zones, Berlin rewards efficient energy management and bold race strategy.

A new twist for 2025: Pit Boost makes its Berlin debut during Saturday’s race. This innovative Season 11 feature allows drivers a mandatory 30-second, 600kW pit-lane boost—providing an additional 10% energy (3.85kWh)—which could prove decisive in a race expected to be rich in strategic variation.

Sebastien Buemi: ““I am really looking forward to the weekend in Berlin, it will be a great opportunity for us to score more good points as the season approaches the final races. It was great to get the podium back in Jakarta, but now full focus is on making sure we continue the momentum in Berlin.

I’ve enjoyed a lot of success over the years at this circuit and will be aiming to add to that this week.”

Robin Frijns: “We have been on good form lately, scoring points in most races, so heading into Berlin we are feeling confident to continue that and work our way up the order. The races in Berlin are usually chaotic so it will be very important to get the strategy right and maximise on the opportunities to get the best result possible.”
