About the race
Riyadh, meaning garden, is Saudi Arabia’s capital and as such the centre for the country’s politics, business, shopping, culture and entertainment – not to mention being one of the wealthiest cities in the world. The city is a mix of modern skyscrapers and historic old towns, but with the majority of its inhabitants living a conservative lifestyle, heavily rooted in Saudi traditions. That said, recent social changes have seen some relaxation to these traditional values, paving the way for it to host its first ever Formula E race last year. The 2019 Diriyah E-Prix will once again play host to the season opener, but this time with two races to entertain fans, combined with a variety of open-air music concerts and fan zone entertainment.
