Envision Racing head to Mexico City for Round 2 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship
The second stop on the calendar is to the legendary Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit in the Mexican capital.
Season 11 kicked off with a bang in Sao Paulo in December – the inaugural race for the GEN3 Evo brought excitement and drama. Unfortunately, Robin Frijns was unable to start the race due to a brake system alert, however teammate Sebastien Buemi charged through the order to bring home points, finishing in P7.
The much-anticipated debut for the GEN3 Evo did not disappoint – the fastest qualifying lap time was just shy of three seconds faster than its predecessor.
Mexico City, which has played host to the season opener for the past three seasons, is now the second destination for the all-electric series.
THE CIRCUIT
The 2.63km circuit starts on the traditional start/finish straight, which will witness the Formula E grid will shoot down into turn one, using all-wheel drive off the line for the second time. After a long and fast Turn 2, the pack will make their way around Turn 3, which breaks off left into a technical four-turn sequence.
Looping back around a hairpin, Turns 6 and 7 get tricky, with a straight and sharp right-hand bend leading into a chicane complex for a quick blast into the legendary Foro Sol stadium section. Leaving the stadium the drivers will then jostle for position out of the iconic Peraltada curve in the run to the finish line.

It was a fantastic start to S10 for Buemi, achieving a front row start and converting that into a second-place finish. Frijns had a tricky race, making contact with the wall which ended his race.

Sebastien Buemi said: The first race of the season was very eventful, but I am pleased to have scored points. Last season Mexico City was a great weekend for me, qualifying on the front row, and then finishing on the podium. I hope we can take everything we learnt in Sao Paulo to convert into a strong result in the second round of the championship.
Robin Frijns said: It was very disappointing to not get to start the race in Sao Paulo and watch the first race of the season from the sidelines. However, my season starts now in Mexico City and myself and the team have been working hard to ensure we are ready, despite missing out on the first race.
