Envision Racing head to the Spanish capital for Round 6 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship
The Silverstone-based team prepare for the next race of the all-electric world championship with renewed confidence, following Sébastien Buemi’s podium finish in the previous round in Jeddah. The Swiss driver delivered a strong performance, running at the front throughout the race to secure second place and give the team a valuable confidence boost heading into the next race of the Formula E season.
Team-mate Joel Eriksson has also made a promising start to his first season with Envision Racing. The Swede has already scored points in two races and produced a standout performance at the Miami E-Prix, where he secured a career-best fourth-place finish. His early form highlights both his speed and his growing confidence within the team as the season progresses.
Season 12 will mark the debut of the Madrid E-Prix, as Formula E races for the first time at the historic Circuito del Jarama. While teams gained experience at the venue during pre-season testing ahead of Season 11, a competitive race has never been held at the circuit, meaning drivers and engineers will have a new challenge to tackle. As well as this, PIT BOOST makes a return which adds another layer of strategy for the team to handle.
The Madrid E-Prix will also host the official in-season rookie test day, taking place the day after the race on March 22. Envision Racing will field Zak O’Sullivan and Ella Lloyd – both of whom have driven for the team previously and will be aiming to get more valuable laps under their belts.
THE CIRCUIT
The 14-turn 3.9km circuit will feature a re-profiled chicane on the pit straight for the inaugural Madrid E-Prix. This particular corner differs slightly from the layout which was seen at pre-season testing in Season 11, with the cars now facing a left and then right turn as opposed to right to left.
The circuit is known for its technical and winding nature, featuring elevation changes throughout which will make for high intensity fast qualifying laps and precise energy management during the race.

Sebastien Buemi said: “After the podium in Jeddah, I’m feeling confident and excited to get back to it and hopefully build on our early momentum. We showed in Jeddah that when it all comes together, we can deliver a great result, and we’ve been working hard to prepare for this race. A new circuit is always exciting, and although we did the test in Madrid in Season 11 it’s going to be a learning experience for all of us for the first race here.”
Joel Eriksson said: “I’m looking forward to getting back out on track with the team. Although the results in Jeddah were not what we hoped for on my side, there was a lot to learn from it, with it being my first ever Pit Boost weekend and first double-header of the season. The podium for Seb shows that we have the car, and we’ve all been working hard as a team to arrive in Madrid in the best possible shape.”
