After a challenging weekend in Tokyo, the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship heads to London for the final two rounds of Season 12, with the ExCeL London circuit set to host the season finale.
Envision Racing will be looking to bounce back on home soil after a difficult double-header in Tokyo, where incidents across the weekend limited the team’s points haul. With two races remaining and a lot of points still available, the team will be determined to finish the season strongly in front of the UK crowd.
London holds a special place in Envision Racing’s history. The team secured the Teams’ World Championship at the circuit in Season 9, while Sébastien Buemi has enjoyed a particularly strong record at the venue, securing a podium in each of the last three seasons. This year’s event will also mark the final Formula E races at ExCeL London, with the championship set to move to Brands Hatch for the London E-Prix from Season 13. With the final two races taking place at a venue that has delivered so many memorable moments, Envision Racing will be aiming to add another chapter to its London story.
THE CIRCUIT
The ExCeL London Circuit is one of Formula E’s most unique venues, combining indoor and outdoor sections around the iconic exhibition centre in London’s Royal Docks.
The challenging layout features a mixture of tight corners, long straights and technical sequences, with the track transitioning between the indoor arena and the outdoor section. The circuit’s changing surfaces and conditions make it a particularly demanding challenge for both drivers and teams, with qualifying and race performance often decided by the smallest margins.
After this weekend, Formula E will bid farewell to the ExCeL London venue, which has hosted the season finale since Season 7. From Season 13, the London E-Prix will move to Brands Hatch, beginning a new chapter for the championship in the UK.
LAST TIME OUT
The Tokyo E-Prix proved to be a difficult weekend for Envision Racing, with incidents across the double-header preventing the team from maximising its potential and scoring the points it had been targeting.
The team will now look to put the weekend behind it and finish Season 12 on a high, with both drivers returning to a circuit where Envision Racing has enjoyed significant success.
Buemi will be aiming to continue his impressive run of form in London, having stood on the podium at the venue in each of the last three seasons. Eriksson will also be looking to end his first full Formula E season with a strong performance on a circuit where every point will count towards the final championship standings.
The London E-Prix gets underway with practice on Friday, followed by two decisive race days across the weekend.
