Envision Racing and The Peninsula Shanghai Announce Partnership as Formula E Returns To China

Envision Racing is delighted to announce a special collaboration with The Peninsula Shanghai to mark the return of Formula E to China.

The Peninsula Shanghai is the city’s leading premium hotel, with a dedication to a green, climate-friendly and environmentally conscious future that perfectly aligns with the principles that guide the racing team.

Envision Racing, the current Formula E world champions, will race in Shanghai for the first-time this week, and the first time in China since 2019. Two rounds of Season 10 are due to take place at Shanghai’s International Race Circuit, on Saturday 26 May and Sunday 27 May.

The Peninsula Shanghai’s branding will adorn the side of Envision Racing’s two racing cars throughout both races, serving as a prominent symbol of the partnership.

The Team have been ever-present in Formula E since its inception and are the sport’s current reigning world champions, boasting an impressive track record of 50 podium finishes in 126 races. With drivers Sébastien Buemi and Robin Frijns in the car, hopes are high for a successful weekend in China.

“We are delighted to forge this partnership with the Envision Racing Team, as we share a common ethos,” said Mr. Jisoo Chon, Managing Director of The Peninsula Shanghai.

“Recognising that the enduring success of businesses hinges upon proactive engagement with environmental concerns, we firmly uphold the principles of harmonious coexistence between customer experience and sustainable development.

“This close collaboration presents a unique opportunity for us to connect with a broader audience, reinforcing our brand’s values while raising awareness about the crucial imperative of environmental protection and green energy. Together, we strive to make meaningful contributions towards a brighter future.”

Sylvain Filippi, Team Principal & CTO of Envision Racing, said: “It’s always a pleasure to align ourselves with other organisations that pride themselves on sustainability.

“We are delighted to be back racing in China and thrilled to partner with The Peninsula Shanghai. We look forward to a productive week of sustainable initiatives.”

This week marks the return of Formula E to China after a five-year hiatus, and its debut in Shanghai. As the world’s first sport to be net-zero from its inception, Formula E is a leading example of a sustainable future for sport and automobiles, aligning perfectly with The Peninsula Hotel’s philosophy.

The Peninsula Group is committed to achieving long-term sustainable development goals, focusing on three key core topics around diminishing natural resources such as energy, water and food, climate change, and growing social inequalities, all aimed at creating a shared healthy lifestyle and a green future.

The Peninsula Shanghai looks forward to an electrifying race and to support Envision Racing in their pursuit of victory, while championing sustainability on and off the track.
