Sam Bird shot to Pole Position with a flying lap time of 1:01:616 knocking his Brazilian competition Lucas Di Grassi off the top spot: “I’m very pleased with this position, I feel like this team is growing and growing, we’re getting stronger. As we know anything can happen during a race but I am going to get out there and fight to keep this position.”
His teammate Jean-Eric Vergne equally stunned fans in Paris with a lap time of 1:01.993 taking him to P3 ahead of Frenchmen Stephan Sarrazin and Nicolas Prost. Vergne, who had his car livery changed to the Tricolour colours especially for the Paris ePrix said: “It means so much to have pulled off a fast lap to start P3 in my hometown with the crowds watching like this. This ePrix has a fantastic vibe and I just hope I can keep it up by getting a podium position here.”
Team Principal Alex Tai was clearly delighted with the team’s performance.”This has been a team effort. DS are central to the reason we are here, they’ve given an injection of excellence into this team and I’m pleased we’re able to give something back by giving ourselves the best possible shot at bringing a podium home for them. The race is still to come but we’re as ready as we could possibly be.”
