Envision Racing recently launched its Race Against Climate Change Advisory Board – a collective of experts from across science, technology, academia, and industry, brought together to accelerate the transition to a net-zero future. The board was created to unite leading voices from different sectors who are already pushing boundaries within their own fields and who, together, can help shape meaningful, cross-industry action on climate.

One of those voices is Ton de Weijer, Innovation leader at Teijin Ltd. based in the Netherlands. With over 25 years of experience bridging science, innovation, and business, Ton has held senior roles in R&D and corporate strategy across Europe and Japan. His expertise spans chemistry, artificial intelligence, sustainable materials, and circular economy solutions. Today, he leads the development of new technologies that accelerate the energy transition and enable circular business models.

In this interview, Ton shares his career journey, the sustainability challenges he’s tackling at Teijin, and why collaboration through the Advisory Board is so crucial.

Can you tell us a little about yourself and your background?

I originally studied chemistry, but I always wanted to connect science with real-world business applications. While finishing my master’s, I pushed to gain industrial experience and joined AkzoNobel. That balance between academic research and business really inspired me, so when I went on to do a PhD, I structured it 50/50 between the university and industry. My research focused on artificial intelligence and data analysis in the chemical industry – in hindsight, a very relevant area to explore.

My career has followed a slightly unconventional path, but always driven by curiosity and innovation. I’ve worked across R&D, product development, mergers and acquisitions, and business development. I also spent more than 7 years in Japan, where I had the opportunity to lead a corporate R&D group – an incredible learning experience in cross-cultural management.

Most recently, I returned to the Netherlands to establish a new innovation hub for Teijin at Brightlands Chemelot Campus, a unique innovative ecosystem in the world of circular chemistry, sustainable materials and biomedical application. The Teijin Innovation Center is focused on developing products and services that contribute to environmental solutions and renewable energy. I’m always motivated by asking: where can I learn more, and how can I do something different that has real impact?

What are some of the most pressing sustainability challenges you’re working on at Teijin?

We’re focused on two main pillars. The first is renewable energy conversion. If we want to accelerate the energy transition, we need better materials for wind turbines, transportation systems and storage of Hydrogen, fuel cells, electrolysers and batteries. Efficiency is the biggest challenge today – high costs and investment needs mean we must improve the performance of these enablers. At Teijin, we’re developing advanced membranes and composites that sit at the heart of these systems and can dramatically improve efficiency.

The second is the circular economy. There is a demand and a clear need to accelerate the shift from a linear to a circular model, which changes everything – business processes, customer relationships, supply chains etc.

For a company like Teijin, this is a major transformation. One example is carbon composites: they are strong and inert, which is great for performance, but extremely difficult to recycle. Our aim is to design molecules that retain composite performance but can also be easily broken down or repurposed.

We’ve already developed resins that can be decomposed and recycled, and we’re starting to explore proof-of-concept applications. The idea is to begin with parts of a car that are less critical for safety or structure, and expand from there. It’s early stages, but the progress is exciting.

Why is the Envision Racing Advisory Board important in driving the climate agenda forward?

Like racing, innovation depends on speed, knowing what truly works and be decisive. What motivates me is listening to the other board members. We all come from different backgrounds, but share a common mission. That creates anchor points for collaboration, and that’s where the real value comes in.

Often you leave a conference or event feeling inspired, but then daily reality takes over. The Advisory Board helps sustain that momentum. I think there’s even more potential to build connections between members, to explore collaborations between meetings, and to use our networks to extend the impact.

Personally, I’ve had fascinating discussions with members about the role of AI – which is where my own career started – and how it connects to industries like fashion and textiles. Given Teijin’s expertise in materials and textiles, that’s a very close connection. Similarly, in the circular economy space, I see huge potential for cross-industry learning.

In short, the Advisory Board isn’t just about talking – it’s about creating the conditions for practical, cross-sector action. And that’s what excites me most.

The Frontrunners in the Race Against Climate Change: Meet the Climate Scientist

Earlier this year, Envision Racing launched its Race Against Climate Change Advisory Board with one clear aim: unite pioneering minds from across industries to accelerate impactful climate action. Among them is a scientist whose career path took him from the depths of space to the urgent realities of our planet’s changing climate.

In this interview, we meet Professor Ed Hawkins, Climate Scientist at the University of Reading. We’ve worked with Ed for several years, proudly featuring his now-iconic Climate Stripes on our cars and in our garage. For Ed, the stripes are more than just an image – they’re a powerful visual reminder of the reality of climate change and its consequences, already being felt across the globe.

 

From astrophysics to climate change

Ed began his academic life studying the cosmos, completing a PhD in astrophysics. But as his career progressed, he felt drawn to work that felt more relevant to people’s daily lives.

“I went sideways into climate topics because they seemed more pressing,” he explains. “It was a different time – climate denial was getting stronger, and many of us felt compelled to stick our heads above the parapet.”

Now, with over 20 years in the field, Ed brings both deep expertise and the perspective of someone who entered climate science with fresh eyes. His work is driven by the conviction that science must be communicated clearly, directly, and accessibly – not just to academics, but to the public, policymakers, and communities.

 

The power of the Climate Stripes

First created in 2018, Ed’s Climate Stripes have become one of the most recognisable symbols in climate communication. Depicting global temperature changes year by year, they have been projected onto landmarks, worn by rock bands, and even presented to the Pope.

“The stripes do such a good job of showing what we’ve already done to our planet,” Ed says. “They help make climate change feel like something happening now, not in some distant future.”

The data behind the image tells a sobering story – one that is already being felt in extreme weather events, from record-breaking heatwaves to increasingly intense rainfall. “We’re already living with the consequences,” he warns.

 

Turning questions into research

Much of Ed’s work begins with conversations. Interviews and public discussions often leave him wishing he could answer questions with greater clarity, or express certainty in ways that are both scientifically robust and widely understandable.

Sometimes, those conversations inspired research projects – for example, analysing how a particular flood or heatwave compares to similar events a century ago. “We can ask: if we had the same weather patterns 100 years ago, how different would the impacts be? It’s a valuable way of framing the discussion, and it’s all backed by solid science.”

 

Shifting the narrative on misinformation

A decade ago, climate misinformation was a dominant force in public discourse. In recent years, climate science is much more widely accepted – but we’re at risk of going backwards.

“Ten to fifteen years ago, sceptics and deniers were getting a lot of airtime,” Ed recalls. “That’s dropped off in recent years, and there’s now broader acceptance in major media that we don’t have to give equal weight to unfounded claims.”

But he cautions that political headwinds can still threaten climate progress. In the UK, for example, recent anti–net zero rhetoric marks a step backwards. “It hasn’t been like this for a decade,” Ed says, “and it will make this work even more important.”

 

Going to greater depths

Ed’s latest research continues to build on the stripes concept, expanding from global averages to regional and even city-specific versions. But his focus is not just on surface temperatures – he’s exploring changes deep in the ocean and high in the atmosphere.

“We can see strong warming trends in the oceans since the 1960s – this is why sea levels are rising, coral reefs are bleaching, and marine species are shifting. Higher in the atmosphere, the lower layers are warming, but the upper layers are cooling. That cooling is a fingerprint of our greenhouse gas emissions, predicted decades ago and now observed by satellites. It’s exactly what the science told us would happen – hot air is being trapped under the stratosphere.”

 

Collaboration across industries

For Ed, joining our Advisory Board is an opportunity to exchange ideas with leaders in fields far beyond academia.

“It’s fascinating to hear the perspectives of organisations in different industries – and to understand the struggles they face in solving these problems. You can do so much internally, but often you don’t have control over everything in your supply chain or operations.”

 

Beyond net zero

Ed is clear-eyed about the challenges ahead. “It’s looking increasingly likely that we’ll overshoot global targets – we’ll go over 1.5°C without a doubt. Once we do, the question becomes: can we reverse it? Can we go beyond stabilising and actually bring temperatures back down?”

That’s where net negative comes in – removing more carbon from the atmosphere than we emit. “We can’t decarbonise completely. For instance, if we want to feed the world, agriculture will always have some unavoidable emissions. So we need to reduce as much as possible, and then ‘mop up’ the rest through carbon removal and storage.”

The technologies to do this exist in theory, but scaling them is the challenge.

“It’s early days, and some ideas are a bit crazy, but nothing has been demonstrated at the scale we need yet. The companies that invest now will be ahead of the game – just like with renewables. The more we invest, the more ideas will emerge.”

The board was created to unite leading voices from different sectors who are already pushing boundaries within their own fields and who, together, can help shape meaningful, cross-industry action on climate.

One of those voices is Dr Axel Leuchter who is leading on sustainability for Teijin in Europe. With a background in chemistry and a career dedicated to quality management and environmental impact, Axel brings a deeply technical and pragmatic perspective to the board, particularly around the challenges and opportunities of circularity in manufacturing and complex industries like chemicals.

In this interview, Axel shares his insights on the future of circular systems in the chemical industry, how Teijin is addressing sustainability at a global scale, and why collaboration across sectors and supply chains – like the one fostered by the Advisory Board – is essential for lasting climate impact.

 

Firstly, please introduce yourself and give us an overview of your background.

I’m Dr Axel Leuchter, based in Germany, and I manage Teijin’s sustainability strategy in Europe. Together with other passionate people, I cover everything that has to do with the circular economy of our business and reporting on our sustainability initiatives.

My team and I also advise the Teijin Centre of Excellence for Circular Economy at Brightlands Chemelot Campus in the Netherlands. Recently, Envision Racing hosted a very inspiring ‘Race Against Climate Change’ event at the campus, where Ton de Weijer and Smitha Sundaram of the Teijin team were able to present and discuss our ideas.

Before this role, I worked in the carbon fibre branch of Teijin, which works in aerospace and automotive industries, looking at how we can best tackle issues around the quality, environment and safety of our operations.

The environment and sustainability have been central themes throughout my career; I studied chemistry and environmental studies and have worked in quality management for over 15 years.

To me, sustainability is the most important topic of the present and the future – so I’m proud and passionate to work for a company that is focused on pioneering sustainable solutions in a complex and carbon-intensive industry and that has the long-term vision to be a company that supports the society of the future.

What are some of the most pressing issues in sustainability you’re working on at Teijin?

We’re a chemical company so we’ve worked with fossil sources for decades. Because of that fact, we have historically worked in a very linear way and it has been hard to break that pattern of thinking. But now, circularity is a huge focus for the entire company globally.

The reality is that if you want to maintain your position in the industry, you have to close the loop and think about your products in a circular way. That is really difficult in the chemicals industry, it’s a very complex process, but it is essential if you’re to survive in a net zero economy.

There are two big challenges we face: first is considering the sources needed for producing your chemicals – are they bio-based materials or recycled and is there enough of that material available – and the second is recyclability of the product with the end consumer.

In between these two challenges is usually a lengthy, complex supply chain with multiple moving parts and various stakeholders. So not only do you have to think from cradle to grave (and back again), but you have to do this through engaging partners, getting fully transparency and traceability and communicating and cooperating with the full supply chain.

You mention collaboration. Why is the Envision Racing Advisory Board important in driving the climate agenda forward?

Envision Racing is so unique in its advocacy for sustainability and circularity. The team is trying to be net zero and reduce its own emissions as much as possible, but there’s limits to this as a small team.

I think through creating an Advisory Board, hosting events at race locations across the world, bringing together corporations and governments while using the platform of Formula E to be as loud as possible on climate-related issues, the team is making an impact far beyond its limitations.

The Advisory Board combined people from science, education, manufacturing, AI and fashion – arguably, the industries and the institutions that are going to make the biggest impact in the race against climate change – to learn from one another and to discuss a way forward.

It is, of course, important for companies to focus on becoming net zero and introduce circularity within their supply chains, but Envision Racing is in a unique position where it can connect people, connect with local projects in race locations and enable large entities to make a significant shift. That’s really important and an important role of the Advisory Board.

Race Against Climate Change comes to London

London, the hub of global finance and policy, set the perfect stage for the return of Envision Racing’s Race Against Climate Change (RACC) Live event on the eve of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship season finale.

Held along the River Thames by the ExCel Centre – the home of the final race of the season – the event brought together an engaged audience for a powerful discussion on how finance, innovation and sport can accelerate meaningful climate action.

From the grid to green finance

As one of the few net zero sports teams in the world, Envision Racing isn’t just about performing on the racetrack. At RACC Live London, we took our mission off track spotlighting how sport can act as a catalyst to convene and inspire the industries that hold the key to unlocking real climate solutions – starting with sustainable finance.

As one of the most influential voices in the climate investment space – and arguably, in finance altogether – we invited David Blood to engage in a Q&A Fireside chat with our Operations Director Jennifer Babington. As the former Chief of Staff at the UK Green Investment Bank and General Counsel at Element Power, Jennifer brought deep expertise and a unique perspective to the conversation, bridging the worlds of policy, clean energy, and corporate leadership.

David Blood is the co-founder of Generation Investment Management, a firm he founded alongside former US Vice President, Al Gore. David is passionate about tackling the planet’s biggest threat – climate change – and is doing so through his experience as a financier, directing funds towards climate-saving projects. Formerly the CEO of Goldman Sachs Asset Management, David’s career led him to the conclusion that sustainable investment was the way forward.

At RACC Live, David’s message was clear: the money to solve the climate crisis exists – it’s now about where, and how fast, we choose to direct it.

In this article, we’ve summarised some of the most interesting questions and answers from the session.

Have we lost the race against climate change?

A key theme of the talk was that sustainability and sustainable investment isn’t just ethically correct or environmentally friendly – it’s simply better. For individuals, for entrepreneurs, for policymakers, and for the economy.

“The green transition is going to happen because it’s a really good idea – both economically and for health and everything else,” states David. “But – we have lost the narrative. Particularly in the United States, but even around the world, we have made it way too complicated.”

“What used to be a fringe group of ‘climate sceptics’ are now being referred to as ‘climate realists’. They are saying the transition is going to take a long time, that it will be extremely expensive, kill jobs, and there will be no energy security associated with it. All of that is incorrect – and yet, that is what a lot of people believe.”

“We need to be sharper and more positive. That’s why what your team is doing in Formula E is absolutely critical. You’re showing that being sustainable is simply better – not as good or worse, but better.”

 

Where is the money going?

As someone who understands the financial markets in depth, we wanted to understand where investment is going and what is needed to make the transition a reality.

“The biggest challenge from a sustainable investment standpoint is we need to invest something like four trillion dollars per year over the next 20 years to decarbonise and make our global economy more sustainable. That’s a lot of money.”

“The good news is last year we invested two trillion dollars in the energy transition which is twice as much as we invested in hydrocarbons during the same period. A few years ago, that was reversed – we invested double in hydrocarbons compared to green energy – so we’re certainly making progress.”

 

What does global decarbonisation look like?

“We will decarbonise in the UK, we will decarbonise in the USA and we will decarbonise in China – in fact, China will likely lead the way. But we need to find out how we’re going to do this in India, Indonesia, Brazil etc etc.”

“We need to change mindsets. Climate and nature challenges are different than issues like poverty for instance, because you really can’t see it. We’re starting to experience droughts and forest fires and high heats – but most people can’t internalise it and they don’t see it as a global problem.”

What are the biggest priorities?

“We need to electrify everything, we need to change industrial businesses, we need to change the built environment, land use and mobility – those are the five areas we need to radically change.”

For that final area – mobility, you’re leading the way. Through Formula E, you’re proving e-mobility can be really nice, cool – but also better. And that is 20% of the energy transition.”

 

A catalyst for climate optimism

RACC Live London served as a powerful reminder that the race against climate change is not lost – but it is urgent. Through open, honest discussion and bold leadership, the event demonstrated how sport can convene the very people and sectors capable of driving systemic change.

From David Blood’s expert insight to the growing momentum behind green finance, one thing is clear: we have the solutions, the capital, and the innovation to deliver a more sustainable future. What we need now is unwavering commitment, clearer narratives, and faster action.

Innovating for a circular future: Key takeaways from RACC Live Tokyo with Teijin

At Envision Racing, we believe electric motorsport is more than a race on track; it’s a powerful platform for driving sustainable change. This belief took centre stage at our recent Race Against Climate Change® (RACC) Live event in Tokyo, held in collaboration with our partner, Teijin.

Bringing together leaders from e-mobility, manufacturing, technology and finance, the event explored a pressing question: how can cross-industry collaboration and innovation accelerate the shift to a circular economy? Two powerful panel discussions tackled this challenge from different angles.

Panel 1: From Race to Reality – Formula E as a Testbed for Circular Innovation

The first panel, featuring Envision Racing and battery manufacturer AESC, explored how electric motorsport can drive change far beyond the racetrack. As Envision Racing’s Managing Director and CTO, Sylvain Filippi, explained, Formula E is defining motorsport’s role in sustainability.

Compared to F1’s 20 tyre sets per car per race and large teams, Formula E operates with just two sets per car per weekend and a significantly smaller crew. The impact is clear: more efficiency, less waste.

In just over a decade, Formula E has evolved from needing two cars per driver to single-car efficiency, 350kW power output, and 0-60 mph acceleration in 1.8 seconds, which is 30% faster than F1. Looking ahead, Gen 4 cars in 2026 will push boundaries with 600kW power and advanced energy regeneration.

But this innovation isn’t just confined to the circuit. For Shoichi Matsumoto, CEO of AESC, the sport’s collaborative, high-stakes environment mirrors efforts to accelerate the global clean energy transition that companies like AESC are tackling through resilient supply chains, carbon-neutral operations and the creation of skilled, local jobs.

Panel 2: Innovating for a Circular Future – Materials, Mobility & the “S” in ESG

The second panel, expertly steered by Hideaki Yonekubo, COO of esa, shifted the focus from vehicles to the people and materials that power them. Featuring insights from Global Mobility Service (GMS), WHILL and Teijin, the discussion explored how innovation in circularity must extend to both the physical and social dimensions of sustainability.

Tokushi Nakashima of Global Mobility Service spotlighted the “circularity of people,” using technology to create access to mobility and employment for underserved communities. Through their IoT-enabled Mobility Service Platform, the company enables individuals without traditional credit access to auto-financing, helping to reintegrate them into the economy and fostering social empowerment.

Junpei Naito from WHILL emphasised the importance of emotional engagement in sustainable design, and empowering people with the autonomy to go where they want, when they want, regardless of ability. For circular solutions to succeed, people must actually want to use them. So, that means creating sustainable mobility solutions that people are not only able to use, but excited and proud to ride.

Yutaka Yagi of Teijin took the material perspective further. For him, circularity is about durability, traceability, and changing mindsets around the life of a product. By linking environmental data with storytelling, Teijin aims to encourage users to value and retain products longer, reinforcing circular behaviour through care, not just compliance.

The panel agreed on one key point: circularity is as much a technical challenge as it is a challenge of mindset and culture. Without shifts in human behaviour, no amount of innovation will move the needle fast enough.

Looking Forward: Circularity Needs Collaboration

One message echoed throughout both panels: circularity cannot happen in isolation. Whether it’s motorsport serving as a testbed for EV innovation, or companies reimagining mobility through material science and social equity, progress relies on collaboration across industries, sectors and borders.

Envision Racing takes on London Climate Action Week

Last week, as London buzzed with climate dialogue, collaboration, and optimism, our team at Envision Racing had the privilege of immersing ourselves in some of the most thought-provoking events of London Climate Action Week 2025.

We went to listen, learn, and stand alongside others using their platforms – businesses, investors, communities, creatives – to drive urgent climate action. What we came away with was both humbling and energising: a deeper appreciation of how climate leadership shows up in different forms, and renewed inspiration to push further in our own sustainability journey.

Share Your Stripes Day: Taking direct action in the world’s most affected locations

Just before London Climate Action Week fully kicked off, the racing calendar took us to Indonesia, a country severely affected by climate change with rising sea levels threatening to wipe out some of the smaller islands in the archipelago.

Ahead of the Saturday race, we joined the rest of the Formula E community in a beach clean-up, removing hundreds of bags of rubbish from beaches close to Jakarta. We also participated in #ShareYourStripesDay, an initiative started by climate scientist Ed Hawkins to raise awareness of the warming planet.

The Climate Stripes is an image that depicts a coloured stripe for each year in accordance with the temperature of the planet, going from blue to dark red. We proudly display the impactful image on our car and in our garage, using our platform to raise awareness and inspire people to take action.

 

Coffee Morning: Rethinking carbon markets with integrity

We joined the SCB Group’s Community Coffee Morning for a conversation-rich session focused on greenhouse gas accounting and carbon market transparency. The event brought together experts across sectors to unpack what ‘good’ carbon management really looks like – and where the pitfalls lie.

One takeaway was clear: not all carbon credits are created equal, and credibility matters more than ever. SCB described their approach with an emphasis on integrity – not just in the metrics, but in the human impact. The meeting heard how their employees visit project sites and often stay with local host families, deepening their understanding of the communities they’re supporting.

It was a reminder that carbon markets, when done right, can drive real-world benefits – not just on paper, but on the ground.

Forum: The business world funding the future

Held at Protein Studios, the Blue Earth Forum stood out as a dynamic collision of capital, innovation and intent. Across panels and breakout sessions, we saw how urgently the investment world is shifting toward nature-positive, high-impact solutions.

One standout theme: the emphasis on regenerative models over merely sustainable ones. There’s a growing realisation that we must go beyond ‘doing less harm’ – we need to actively restore ecosystems, not just preserve them. As a sports team rooted in purpose, we left thinking about how our influence can stretch beyond carbon neutrality into climate positivity.

Community energy workshop: Small actions that have huge consequences

In a more intimate session, we engaged in a conversation on community energy. We heard stories from local groups taking energy generation into their own hands, creating not just clean power, but stronger, more resilient neighbourhoods.

It was inspiring to learn just how much local communities can impact not just their immediate environment but help in the race against climate change – and oftentimes, just one individual who can push entire communities to act.

Projects thrive when the people most affected are part of the decision-making process from the start. It reminded us that innovation isn’t always high-tech – it’s often about empowerment, ownership, and grassroots engagement.

Sustainable aviation fuel: A potential solution to decarbonising a carbon-intense industry

Sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) are poised to play a huge role in decarbonising air travel – a topic highly relevant to an international racing team like ours. This session was refreshingly honest about the challenges: limited supply, scaling costs, and the need for stringent sustainability standards.

But it also offered hope. There are credible pathways forward, especially if buyers, regulators, and innovators move together. For us, it prompted a fresh look at how we travel to races and how we might reduce or offset that impact in ways that are truly meaningful.

Extreme Hangout: Storytelling as a catalyst for climate action

Finally, we joined the Extreme Hangout – a more informal but no less impactful event. The energy here was electric. From business leaders to Gen Z activists, each speaker brought passion and urgency to the stage, sharing how personal stories can cut through climate fatigue and inspire real change.

This felt close to home for us. At Envision Racing, we know that sport has a powerful storytelling role to play in climate action. Hearing it reinforced gave us clarity: we need to keep using our platform not just to entertain, but to educate and activate.

Taking climate action

London Climate Action Week reminded us that real progress happens not in isolation, but through networks of unlikely allies – finance and community groups, scientists and creatives, startups and sports teams.

As we reflect on the week, we’re more committed than ever to pushing boundaries in our own climate strategy, learning from others, and sharing our journey transparently. We might be a racing team, but we’re in this race for the planet.

Mumbai, 12th May 2025: Envision Energy unveiled India’s first Race Car (Recover-E) that has been created entirely from e-waste at an exclusive event held at The Radio Club, Mumbai. The event was organised in collaboration with EARTHDAY.ORG, themed ‘Our Power, Our Planet,’ marked a unique convergence of technology, sustainability, and art.

Designed & fabricated using e-waste that include including mobile phones, laptops, and tablets; the vehicle not only exemplifies engineering ingenuity but also highlights the pressing need to address the growing burden of e-waste in India.

The launch event featured a dynamic panel discussion on the intersection of energy, sustainability, and artistic expression, bringing together thought leaders and influencers. Key speakers included Arushi Nishank, celebrated Kathak dancer, actor, film producer and environmentalist; Bauddhayan Mukherji, National Award Winner, Cannes Lion Winner, Filmmaker and Producer; Vinay Jain, Indian film, and television actor; Kounteya Sinha, Multi Award winning international journalist & photographer and Shreya Ghodawat, renowned sustainability strategist. Adding a creative dimension to the evening, multi-instrumentalist and singer & songwriter Prajna Dutta delivered a live performance, reinforcing the theme through music that celebrated harmony between humanity and nature. India has recorded a sharp 72.54% increase in electronic waste (e-waste) generation over the past five years, rising from 1.01 million metric tonnes (MT) in 2019–20 to 1.751 million MT in 2023–24, (Source: https://www.downtoearth.org.in/waste/indias-e-waste-surges-by-73-in-5-years).
This surge highlights growing environmental and health concerns, as e-waste contains hazardous materials such as lead, mercury, and cadmium which, when improperly disposed of, can cause severe damage to ecosystems and human well-being. Recently, Envision Racing made history at the World Economic Forum’s 15th Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Northern China, becoming the first racing team to exhibit at a WEF summit.
The team presented its groundbreaking Recover-E car, as a symbol of sustainability and innovation, to an audience of over 1,500 global leaders spanning government, business, international organizations, media, academia, and civil society. The Recover-E car serves as a catalyst for action toward a carbon-neutral, nature-positive future with designing, engineering, tooling, and fabrication undertaken by Vertex Research Centre in Palladam. To reverse this issue, Envision Racing has launched an initiative aimed at enhancing awareness and education around e-waste and responsible recycling, particularly targeting children and young adults.
While education is a crucial first step, Envision emphasizes that individual action is essential and urges fans and the public-at-large to “buy less and buy better,” “sell or donate old electronics,” and “find out where and how you can recycle your e-waste in your area.” Through informed choices and community engagement, Envision Racing aims to help reverse the growing e-waste problem and promote a more sustainable future.

 

Envision Racing receives 2025 award from Earth Day, recognized as Ambassadors of E-Mobility

As part of the 55th anniversary of Earth Day, EARTHDAY.ORG, the world’s largest environmental movement, has awarded its 2025 ‘Our Power. Our Planet’ award to Envision Racing, the Formula E team that is focused on bringing awareness to climate issues and driving action to reduce.

London, UK. April 15, 2025: Envision Racing has been at the forefront of advancing renewable energy solutions, e-mobility and environmental advocacy, using the global platform of Formula E to drive real-world climate action. This award recognizes the team as Ambassadors of E-Mobility.

Envision Racing is revolutionizing race strategy by harnessing cutting-edge artificial intelligence from Sand Technologies, giving engineers freedom from lengthy manual tasks and increasing accuracy of race analysis.
