Envision Racing travel to Saudi Arabia this week as the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship heads to the Jeddah Corniche Circuit for the first double-header of Season 12. Both races will take place under the lights, setting the stage for an exciting weekend of all-electric action.
Adding to the spectacle, Evo Sessions returns for its second instalment following the double-header. This time, the event will be live streamed on YouTube, with popular British content creator ArthurTV taking to the track for Envision Racing.
The team arrive in the Middle East full of confidence after a strong showing in Miami. Joel Eriksson secured a career-best finish, while Sébastien Buemi delivered an impressive drive from the back of the grid to seventh place. Those results provide solid momentum as Envision Racing look to build on a promising start to Season 12.
This weekend will also see the seasonal debut of Pit Boost. First introduced last year, the innovative mid-race feature will again be used at double-header events. Pit Boost allows teams to take on an additional 10% energy (3.85kWh) through a rapid 600kW charge in the pit lane, requiring a 30-second boost and a minimum stationary time of 34 seconds – adding a strategic element to the races.
Beyond the on-track competition, Evo Sessions continues on Sunday 15 February. ArthurTV, who boasts more than one million followers across his social platforms, has been paired with Envision Racing for the event. He has already completed two simulator training days at the team’s Silverstone headquarters to prepare for the challenge. The format will see two teams of five YouTubers and creators compete for the fastest laps and Evo Sessions honours, with Buemi and Eriksson on hand to coach ArthurTV throughout the session.
THE CIRCUIT
Located alongside the Red Sea, the Jeddah Corniche Circuit features a fast and flowing layout. The lap begins with a long start/finish straight, leading into a technical first sector comprising a chicane and hairpin. Drivers then accelerate through Turns 5, 6 and 7 into Sector 2.
A chicane breaks up the back straight before the track flows into the long, high-speed sweeping Turn 12, followed by another tight hairpin at Turn 13. A pair of chicanes complete the lap, placing a premium on precision and rhythm.
TRACK RECORD
Jeddah proved to be a challenging venue for Envision Racing last season, with difficult qualifying sessions leaving the drivers little opportunity to progress through the field.
