Season 12 is officially here! Sao Paulo kicks off the season this weekend on December 6.
The wait is finally over; Envision Racing will be hitting the track for the first race of Season 12 this week in Sao Paulo. The greenest team enters the season with a blend of experience and new opportunity: with Sebastien Buemi returning for his fourth season with Envision Racing, joined by Joel Eriksson who has graduated to his first full-time race seat in Formula E.
Season 12 will host the final year of the GEN3 Evo cars, as the all-electric championship prepares for the biggest step up in power and technology with the all-new GEN4 car following S12.
A productive test week at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia saw plenty of laps put in and data gathered for the Envision Racing squad. The test gave a glimpse of just how competitive S12 is set to be – with the whole 20 car field separated by just 8 tenths of a second at the end of the four-day test.
THE CIRCUIT
For the third consecutive year, Brazil hosts the season opener, with the fast and technical street circuit built around the Anhembi Sambadrome – one of the largest outdoor venues in the Brazilian city.
The 2.93km circuit boats 11 turns, connected by three long straights for the drivers to navigate the fastest accelerating single seater racing car around. Starting on the main straight that’s usually reserved for carnival floats and revelry, there will be a different type of dancing as the drivers put their toe tapping to use on the brake pedals into the series of sharp turns, that feed to a looping hairpin that fires the field down the straight.
The stage is set for the final season of the GEN3 era to kick off when the lights go green on race day.

Sebastien Buemi: P7
Last season Brazil produced one of the most dramatic races in Formula E history, with numerous red flags, extreme energy saving and positions swapped. Buemi delivered a strong race result, charging through from P12 to finish P7 – scoring points in the first race of the season. Buemi and new-team mate Eriksson will be aiming to start S12 off in a similar form.
