Virgin Racing READY TO ELECTRIFY LONDON
To celebrate Formula E, the world’s first all-electric motor racing series, returning to London’s Battersea Park for the final round of the FIA Formula E Championship on 2-3 July, Virgin Racing has produced a video set in the iconic Electric Avenue in Brixton – the first market street to be lit by electricity.
The video, featuring home favourite Sam Bird, the reigning FIA Formula E London ePrix champion, charts the journey of electric vehicles through the ages to the present day and the phenomenal performance levels of modern day Formula E electric racing cars.
Filmed after dark, we see the famous avenue burst back into life with electrical pulses and charges that culminate with the creation of the DSV-01 in the middle of the street, before Bird emerges from the shadows to take control of the wheel. The video also provides a first glimpse of the special Union Jack livery, which will adorn Bird’s car throughout the race weekend in London.
Bird, who currently sits in 3rd place in the FIA Formula E Drivers’ Championship, will be hoping to repeat the success of last year, when he claimed a sensational victory in Battersea Park as the season reached a dramatic conclusion.
